Spring 2017 GBSJ Editorial Board:

Allen Loomis, Editor-in-Chief
Allen Loomis is from Saratoga Spring, NY and has been living in Chicago since 2012. he graduated from Wright College with an associate’s degree and is now attending Loyola University, where he has enrolled in a BA/MA program in English literature. Outside of college, Allen loves to travel and take road trips, and he enjoys the dog beach with his two pups, Hannah and Oliver. He is passionate about fighting homelessness and serves as an associate board member of the local Chicago organization, North Side Housing and Supportive Services.

Amanda Jiang, Associate Editor
Amanda Jiang grew up in Southern China. In addition to being the Editor-in-Chief of the Great Books Symposium Journal, she is the President of the Great Books Student Society, the Vice President of the Gateway Scholars Club, and a Jack Kent Cooke Scholar. Amanda works two jobs, as a DACA Mentor on the main campus and a statistical researcher with Dordt College. She expects to graduate from Wright in spring 2018 and plans to study psychology, data science, and comparative literature at Smith College.

Edgar Esparza, Associate Editor
Edgar Esparza graduated from Notre Dame College Prep in 2014 and Wilbur Wright College in 2017. He currently attends Columbia University in New York. He intends to graduate with a degree in history with an early American history concentration. He also has an interest in Slavic studies, especially Polish language, history, and culture.

Miguel Orozco, Associate Editor
Miguel A. Orozco is a returning student to Wilbur Wright College. He is interested in gaining knowledge from various fields and is always looking for information to enhance his skills. Although Miguel’s major is in engineering, he has developed a love for literature through various literature courses and especially as member of the Great Books Student Society. Miguel, currently president of the Great Books Student Society, is planning to transfer in the Fall of 2018 to a four-year university where he will pursue a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Vladimir Funticov, Associate Editor
Vladimir Funticov was born in the USSR in 1989 and has been living in Chicago since 2012. Graduated from Wright College with an associate degree in political science, he is currently attending Depaul University, where he is enrolled in an MA program in international relations. His next goal is to attend the University of Chicago Law School.

Ricky Abarca, Associate Editor
Ricky Abarca is a 2013 graduate of Lane Tech and could previously be found groaning at anything Shakespeare. However, with a new-found appreciation for the revenge tragedy tradition, he plans to earn a degree in English and return to Lane to teach.

Michael Petersen, Faculty Advisor and Editor
Michael Petersen has been a professor at Wright College since 1999. He teaches literature and composition and is interested in Shakespeare studies, medieval and early modern literature, nineteenth- and twentieth-century British and American literature, and film. He received his PhD from Northern Illinois University, and his dissertation discussed couplets and sententia in Shakespeare’s Sonnets.
