Amanda Jiang, Editor-in-Chief
Amanda Jiang grew up in Southern China. In addition to being the Editor-in-Chief of the Great Books Symposium Journal, she is the President of the Great Books Student Society, the Vice President of the Gateway Scholars Club, and a Jack Kent Cooke Scholar. Amanda works two jobs, as a DACA Mentor on the main campus and a statistical researcher with Dordt College. She graduated from Wright in spring 2018 and will study psychology, data science, and comparative literature at Smith College.
Julia Borrell, Associate Editor
Julia grew up in Barcelona and came to the U.S in August 2017 to pursue her interest in international relations. Nevertheless, she loves reading and literature has been a passion since a young age. She can speak five languages fluently and has a special interest for travelling and getting to know other cultures. She participated in two exchange programs with AFS (American Field Service) and four international European projects with the Erasmus + initiative. She has a professional violin degree and is currently a member of the Northwest Chicago Symphony orchestra.
Kevin Bonner, Associate Editor
Kevin Bonner is a lover of literature and poetry. Chess is his passion, and he is aspired to become a coach for young chess players. He is currently teaching chess to elementary students and majoring in education at Wright.
Nicole Lozinski, Associate Editor
Nicole is a first generation Chicago native with roots in Poland. She is currently working on her associate’s degree at Wright College and hopes to transfer to Dominican University next spring. Nicole enjoys reading literature, learning new languages, studying niche photography, writing, and creating art. She currently works part time at a DIY store on the North Side and can probably get you a discount there if you name drop her.
Izaki Metropoulos, Associate Editor
Izaki Metropoulos is intrigued by Psychoanalytic, Romantic, and Existential literature. In addition to being a member of the Great Books Symposium Journal editorial board, he is also the treasurer of the Great Books Student Society, and he tutors all levels of English at Wright College. Outside of school, he plays traditional Greek and Balkan music professionally and frequently travels across the United States as a multi-instrumentalist. In his spare time, he loves to learn new languages, strike up conversations about controversial topics, and endlessly surf YouTube.
Alisa Scott, Associate Editor
Alisa Scott graduated from Josephinum Academy High School with academic distinctions from National Honor Society and Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica in 2017. She enjoys reading, writing, and drawing in her free time. She writes and edits for the Wright Times school newspaper and Symposium Journal while pursuing an Associates in Art.
Zoe Both, Assistant Editor
Zoe was born and raised in Chicago. After many years in the Chicago Public Library’s system, she enrolled in Wright College. She is committed to science but has a love of English, especially in regards to Shakespeare. She hopes to take any knowledge gained from the Great Books Curriculum back to CPS to help incoming high school students.
Michael Petersen, Faculty Advisor and Editor
Michael Petersen has been a professor at Wright College since 1999. He teaches literature and composition and is interested in Shakespeare studies, medieval and early modern literature, nineteenth- and twentieth-century British and American literature, and film. He received his PhD from Northern Illinois University, and his dissertation discussed couplets and sententia in Shakespeare’s Sonnets.
