Edipson Vinueza is a Wilbur Wright College student pursuing an associate in science degree. He plans to transfer to the University of Illinois at Chicago to earn a degree in Biological Sciences and further his education. He is a current volunteer at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Community Health, where he is a Spanish interpreter. His career goal is to attend Medical School after college and become a doctor.
Edgar Esparza graduated from Notre Dame College Prep in 2014. He began his studies at Wilbur Wright College with a passion for history, especially early American history. He also has an interest in Slavic studies, specifically Polish language, history and culture. In addition to the Great Books Society, Edgar serves as a senator in Wright’s Student Government Association. He graduated from Wright College in the spring of 2017 with an Associate’s in Liberal Arts.
Matthew Barge graduated from Wright College in 2016 and transferred to Loyola University to pursue a degree in English.
Ricky Abarca is a 2013 graduate of Lane Tech and could previously be found groaning at anything Shakespeare. However, with a new-found appreciation for the revenge tragedy tradition, he plans to earn a degree in English and return to Lane to teach.
Lukasz Kornas is a 2nd year Wright College student. He will be transferring to UIC in fall 2017. At UIC, he will pursue a degree in psychology and possibly attend medical school after receiving his bachelor’s. Literature is an expression of man and, through its study, an appreciation of the human condition.
Kimberly Barrios: Through Kimberly Barrios’ journey at Wright College and many Great Book classes, her love for books and reading has been greatly expanded, which has also helped her to improve her writing skills. The valuable knowledge and skills obtained have helped her to successfully reach her first goal of obtaining an associate degree. Now, her education will continue at Smith College where she will be pursuing a major in neuropsychology, her other passion.
Allen Loomis is the student editor-in-chief of the 2017 issue of Wright College’s Great Books Symposium Journal. He is interested in all things Renaissance literature and classical history, and his major is English. He loves to travel and proudly considers himself an aviation “geek”. Allen is also passionate about fighting homelessness, and he serves as an associate board member of the local organization, North Side Housing and Supportive Services.
